• Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce Take It Outside Initiative for RI Businesses

As part of Governor Gina Raimondo's Take It Outside Initiative, the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce (GPCC) has received $150,000 from the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation to support businesses in taking their activities outside as a response to COVID-19.

All businesses are welcome to apply, however, GPCC will primarily serve office-based businesses that wish to move a portion of their customer service, training, employee break areas and general operations outside.

    Eligible Uses:

At the request of businesses, GPCC will approve the purchase of items that facilitate a safe and successful transition to outdoor activities, including pop-up tents/canopies, tables/chairs, signage, storage units, workstations, waste receptacles, shelving, dry erase boards, power supplies, and IT capabilities. Items not listed here may also be requested, as well as shipping and delivery.

Please note that local permits may be required for taking certain outdoor activities outside. Businesses are responsible for obtaining all necessary approvals.

The maximum reimbursable amount allowed per request is $5,000. Purchases must be made between September 16 and December 18, 2020. Upon approval, and following submission of itemized receipts and a self-attestation form, GPCC will issue a reimbursement.

    Eligible Businesses:

To be eligible, businesses must meet the following criteria:

    - Be an established business located within the state of Rhode Island.

    - Have a location that can safely accommodate the proposed activity.

    - Be prepared to accept the requested supplies.

    - Agree to hold the GPCC harmless against and from claims for harm, casualty, property damage, loss of life, defects, and other impacts, as well as against claims brought against your business by any third parties.

GPCC has a preference for office-based businesses, which have not been a focus of other Take It Outside grantees.

    Process:

Applicants must complete an application form below and submit a W-9 form.

Requests will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and funding is limited. GPCC will make decisions within three business days of receiving a complete application.

GPCC reserves the right to deny or provide partial awards based on funding, procurement, or other factors.
