  • Unique Holiday Marketing Ideas Are Essential for Providence Small Businesses

Creative marketing can be a great way to stand out from the crowd and boost sales this holiday season. The Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce offers three reasons why businesses should use creative ways to market during the holidays:

    1. The holiday season is a busy time for consumers, and they are bombarded with marketing messages from all angles. If your business wants to cut through the noise, you need to find a way to stand out. Creative marketing can help you do just that.
    2. The holidays are a time when people are feeling generous, and they are more likely to respond positively to creative marketing campaigns that focus on giving back or supporting good causes.
    3. The holidays are also a time when people are looking for ways to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Creative marketing campaigns that offer a sense of escapism or relaxation will be particularly appealing during this busy time of year.

Hold a Special Event: The holidays are all about celebrating, so why not host an event at your small business? You could host a holiday party for your employees, customers, or both. If you have a brick-and-mortar location, you could also host an event open to the public, like a holiday charity drive or an ugly sweater contest. Whatever type of event you decide to host, make sure it's unique and memorable.

Show Your Support for a Local Charity: 'Tis the season of giving, so show your customers that you're a giving company by supporting a local charity. You could host a charity drive at your store or office, or donate a portion of your proceeds to a worthy cause. When you support a local charity, you'll not only be making a difference in your community—you'll also be building goodwill among your customer base.

Leverage Social Media: Social media is one of the most powerful tools in your marketing arsenal, so make sure you're using it to its full potential this holiday season. Use social media to share updates about holiday events and promotions, engage with customers and followers, and run giveaways and contests. Just make sure you're staying active—the holidays are a busy time for everyone, so you'll need to work harder than ever to cut through the noise and capture people's attention on social media.

Make Online Posts Useful and Interactive: People are always looking for helpful content during the holidays—whether it's recipes for dinner or gift ideas for their loved ones. If you can provide helpful content that's relevant to your business, you'll not only attract more website visitors but also build trust and credibility with potential customers. And if you make your content interactive—for example, by including quizzes or surveys—you'll keep people engaged longer and increase the chances that they'll remember your brand when they're ready to make a purchase.

Organize a Gift Guide and Share It Far and Wide: Gift-giving can be tough, but you can make it easier on your customers (and boost sales) by creating and sharing a gift guide via PDF. Your gift guide should include items that are available for purchase at your store or website, as well as helpful tips for picking out the perfect present. Even if you are using Word to write your guide, you can start with the original document file and use a PDF converter. Once you've created your guide, share it on social media and/or email it to your list of subscribers. And don't forget to include calls-to-action (CTAs) throughout the guide so people know where they can buy the items featured within it.

Hold Contests: Hold giveaways or contests on social media or at your store/office during the holidays and give people the chance to win prizes like gift cards, products, or services from your business. Just make sure you promote the giveaway or contest ahead of time and clearly state the rules so there's no confusion about how people can enter/win.

Reward Returning Customers: Show your appreciation for loyal customers by rewarding them with exclusive discounts or special offers during the holidays. You could offer them early access to holiday sales or send them coupons for free shipping on their purchases. Whatever type of reward you choose to give them, make sure it's something they'll appreciate—and be sure to promote it ahead of time so they know what they need to do (i.e., shop at your store) to take advantage of it.

These are just some of the many ways you can market your small business this holiday season—so get out there and start brainstorming!
