• Social Enterprise Greenhouse Expands Team with Dynamic New Hires to Fuel Innovation and Community Impact

    New Team Brings Expertise in Nonprofit Innovation, Creative Entrepreneurship, and Global Business Management to Advance SEG’s Mission
     
    Social Enterprise Greenhouse (SEG), Rhode Island’s pioneering social impact support organization, is thrilled to announce the addition of three dynamic leaders to its team. With fresh perspectives, diverse expertise, and a shared passion for social impact, Dr. Kiara Butler, Marisa Creed, and Adriana Del Carmen Rios will help drive SEG’s mission to empower entrepreneurs and strengthen the local community. From shaping the future of small business support to fostering creative collaboration, these new hires are poised to make an immediate impact on Rhode Island's vibrant social enterprise landscape.
     
    “We are incredibly excited to welcome Kiara, Marisa, and Adriana to SEG,” said Julie Owens, CEO of SEG. “As our organization continues to expand its services, from empowering local startups and small businesses to creating more collaborative co-working spaces, the expertise and energy that each of these individuals brings will be instrumental. Adriana’s global business experience, Kiara’s proven track record in nonprofit leadership and community engagement, and Marisa’s entrepreneurial creativity will help us not only strengthen our current programs but also explore new ways to serve Rhode Island’s growing ecosystem of social entrepreneurs.”
     
    Dr. Kiara Butler joined SEG in September, bringing a wealth of experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, and community engagement to her role as Senior Director of Community & Partnerships. As the Founder and former CEO of Diversity Talks, Dr. Butler raised over $5 million and successfully expanded the organization’s impact across the nation. In her new role, she will be instrumental in building relationships with key stakeholders, securing partnerships, and driving earned revenue growth. Dr. Butler holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Johnson & Wales University. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys meditating, curating her crystal collection, and spending time with her family.

    Marisa Creed stepped into the role of Co-Working Community Manager in July. Originally from Massachusetts, Creed returned to New England after living in New Orleans for 20 years, where she founded The Art Garden, a nighttime fine art market. As a creative entrepreneur, Creed brings a strong passion for cultivating creative communities, evident in her work with Creed Creative Studios, which organizes bespoke art events. Creed is thrilled to be back in her home region and is excited to bring her diverse skills to managing SEG’s co-working space.

It’s incredibly fulfilling to work alongside such passionate people who are dedicated to making a positive impact in our community. I genuinely feel a sense of pride and purpose in my work, knowing that I am contributing to meaningful change alongside such an incredible team,” said Marisa Creed
     
    Adriana Del Carmen Rios joined SEG as the GROW Program Manager in July. Originally from Peru, Del Carmen Rios’ career journey has spanned across countries, industries, and roles. After completing her B.A. in Business Management in Argentina, she returned to Peru to successfully open and manage a satellite location for a Spanish company in the environmental and maritime industry. Del Carmen Rios’ expertise in project and office management will be invaluable as she supports the development and growth of local small businesses through SEG’s GROW Program. Having recently moved to Rhode Island, she looks forward to immersing herself in the local business landscape and enjoying the state’s natural beauty through outdoor activities like sailing and hiking.
     
    “As Program Manager of the Local Biz Resilience Program at SEG, it’s exciting to bring educational resources to the small business community. What makes it more rewarding is that owners are eager to learn and want to improve their businesses. I’m excited to have the opportunity to support entrepreneurs in this journey!” said Adriana Del Carmen Rios.
