    Federal Acquisition Rules - New Amendments, Guidance

    Manufacturers in the defense supply chain take note: Our partners at the Rhode Island Procurement Technical Assistance Center (RI PTAC) shared two updates related to Federal Acquisition Rules (FAR). 

    1. A proposed amendment to the Federal Acquisition Regulations (“FAR”) intended to “strengthen the impact of the Buy American Act” (“BAA”) over the next eight years includes
    • immediately higher domestic content thresholds that will increase over time,
    • price preference enhancements for “critical” items, and
    • contractor reporting of domestic content within 15 days of an award.

    2. The Department of Defense, in conjunction with the GSA and NASA, are issuing a final rule amending the FAR guidance regarding limitations on subcontracting.
