Gubernatorial Candidates Talk Taxes, Education & Blue Economy at Chamber Forum

In one of the last opportunities for the Rhode Island business community to hear directly from the candidates running for governor just days before the primary election, the Chamber hosted our 2022 Gubernatorial Election Forum on September 8 at the Crowne Plaza Providence-Warwick Hotel.

More than 430 local business and civic leaders attended the event moderated by Chamber President Laurie White as the candidates responded to questions about their vision for the future of our state and their plans to grow and sustain Rhode Island's economy and support our local business community. The University of Rhode Island was the Presenting Sponsor.

The leading candidates for governor on Thursday carved out sharply different stances on taxes during a Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce event, which marked the last gubernatorial candidate forum before the Sept. 13 primaries.
