Chamber Reports To Senate Small Business Task Force

Chamber President Laurie White joined other Chamber representatives and business leaders to address the Senate Small Business Task Force on the issues being faced by the small businesses across the state. From streamlining permitting to enforcing uniform regulations and creating a tax friendly environment for new and emerging companies, White urged the Task Force to be innovative, creative, and flexible when it comes to meeting the needs of the state's small businesses.

"In a world of blackberries, the Internet and email, the speed of business has vastly changed. This change is seen not only in the way in which people communicate, but also in the way in which business decisions are made," she said. "As the speed of business shows no sign of slowing down, communities and governments must adapt their processes to keep up. In fact, we need to create ways to eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy."

The Task Force is charged with exploring ideas for improving state government and its interaction with small business, specifically as it relates to bureaucratic delays, regulation, uncoordinated or duplicate reviews and filings and the added costs associated with doing business.
