Chamber to Participate in Jobs & Small Business Resource Day

Free, day-long workshop for small businesses & job seekers on Saturday, March 13th at the Providence Career & Technical Academy
 
Stop by the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce table at the City of Providence's first Jobs & Small Business Resource Day on Saturday, March 13 from 9am to 4pm at the new Providence Career and Technical Academy field house located at Fricker and Cranston streets.

The day-long event, sponsored by the Providence Economic Development Partnership (PEDP), Bank of America and Walgreens, is designed to bring critically important resources to small businesses and individuals looking for employment. Workshops will focus on a variety of issues including:

- Exploring new career opportunities
- Applying for education and training
- Training current or new workers
- Accessing capital tax credits
- Writing a winning resume
- Building work experience through volunteering
- Identifying contracting opportunities
- Expunging or sealing a record



Participants will also have the opportunity to sign up for Jobs Now! Providence, a federally funded jobs initiative designed to put hundreds of unemployed Providence residents back to work.  Businesses will also have access to information on financing and technical help.  Information will also be available on contracting opportunities, mortgage counseling and the 2010 Census.
