  • Several New Grant Opportunities for RI

    LISC Small Business Relief Grant Now Open
    LISC's Rapid Response COVID Recovery Fund for small businesses is now open and accepting applications until Monday, August 3 at 11:59 p.m. EST. The fund awards grants of up to $20,000 and target entrepreneurs of color, women-owned businesses and other enterprises in historically under-served places where access to flexible, affordable capital is not always possible. Non-profits are ineligible for this round of funding.
    The fund started with an initial investment of $2.5 million from Verizon — followed by an additional $5 million from the telecom giant, plus substantial funding from Sam's Club, Lowe's, Ebay, Truist Financial, and Synchrony Foundation.

    Grant Funding Open for Providence Child Care and Early Learning Facilities
    Deadline approaching
    We are currently taking applications for the City of Providence Early Learning Facilities Grant Program.
    This opportunity is for facility improvements to indoor and outdoor space for licensed child care and early learning providers in Providence. Organizations must serve high-needs children and must be actively engaged in BrightStars.

    Opening Soon: COVID Relief Program for Child Care Providers
    In partnership with the RI Department of Human Services, LISC will administer an emergency relief fund for child care and early learning centers to help them respond to the Coronavirus. 
    The fund will provide grants for capital projects necessary for child care providers to reopen under new guidelines from DHS and the CDC. Funds will be available to help offset costs due to the shutdown.

    $1,000 Mini-Grants to help STOP THE SPREAD in PCF Health Equity Zone
    LISC and the Pawtucket Central Falls HEZ are accepting applications for mini-grants for youth and youth groups to help get the word out about ways to combat the spread of COVID-19. We are looking for a wide range of ideas and programs, from social media campaigns to resource delivery.

    Micro-enterprise Stabilization Grant Program Available in RI
    LISC Rhode Island is partnering with the State Office of Housing and Community Development to offer this grant program for Micro-Enterprises impacted by the Coronavirus closures. Applications for this CDBG program are still being accepted.

    Webinar Tomorrow on Preventing Evictions
    During COVID Pandemic
    LISC's Family Income and Wealth Building team invites you to a webinar with  Noëlle Porter, Director of Government Affairs, National Housing Law Project on navigating housing instability and preventing eviction as many of the protections under the CARES Act come to a close.
    This webinar will help front-line staff understand current eviction policy and housing resources provided under the CARES Act and the tools they will need to serve clients fearing housing instability or homelessness. Speakers will discuss solutions to impending evictions, and the potential resources in the upcoming HEROES Act.
