Partridge Snow & Hahn Managing Partner Howard Merten Elected to New Leadership Roles
Partridge Snow & Hahn Managing Partner, Howard Merten, has recently been elected to two leadership roles outside of the firm. He was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel (FDCC), as well as the Board of Trustees at Roger Williams University (RWU).
The FDCC is an international professional association of peer-reviewed defense and corporate counsel members admitted by invitation. Membership is limited to 1200 defense or corporate counsel and afforded to those who have differentiated themselves professionally and have earned exemplary reputations, as judged by an admissions committee that queries peers, adversaries and judges who know the candidates personally. Howard has been an active member of the FDCC for 18 years.
In response to his election, Howard remarked, “I am truly humbled and honored to have been elected into the leadership of the FDCC. It is the finest professional organization I have ever been a part of. Its members represent the finest trial lawyers, insurance industry leaders and in-house lawyers in the country and around the world. I will work hard to continue the FDCC’s tradition of fostering knowledge, civility, and fellowship amongst its members and the greater justice system we all serve.”
Howard will serve as Secretary-Treasurer for one year before becoming President Elect (2021-2022) and then President of the Federation (2022-2023).
Howard’s election to serve on the Board of Trustees at RWU was by a unanimous vote among the voting Board. Howard commented, “Roger Williams University is a vibrant place and an extremely valuable resource to Rhode Island. I am looking forward to working with an incredible board and our recently appointed and energetic President, Ioannis Miaoulis, to move the mission of the University forward.” Howard also serves as the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Roger Williams University School of Law.
