There are two programs up to address current needs:
Students still need socialization and trusted relationships. They are experiencing loss and grief. Our Pen Pals program maintains and enhances our volunteer's relationships with youth. 47 of our volunteers are exchanging letters weekly with 87 students.
Not every student has what they need to succeed. Our Book Bag Delivery program has volunteers delivering bookbags, materials, and resources to students and families' homes.
This summer, we'll be working on supporting rising Kindergartners and their families in Providence, ensuring they have the tools and skills they need to be successful when they enter kindergarten this fall.
And we're still working on fall. Our traditional business model has been to support students with positive relationships and academic support, in their classrooms. We'll be evolving our model as conditions require. This academic year, 478 volunteers have given more than 12,000 hours to more than 800 Providence elementary students.
