GSSNE Recognizes Centennial Year at May 2nd Annual Meeting
Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England Celebrate Their Centennial at 2019 Annual Meeting
On Thursday, May 2nd, Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England (GSSNE) will celebrate their centennial year at the 2019 Annual Meeting. The meeting will be held at GSSNE’s Camp Hoffman property, located at 2850 Ministerial Rd, in South Kingstown, RI. It is set to begin at 5:30pm, and after addressing the necessary business, the centennial celebration will begin.
100 years ago, on December 2nd, 1919, Girl Scouts became incorporated into Rhode Island, known as Girl Scouts of Rhode Island (GSRI). They served to coordinate local efforts, organize troops, train leaders, and provide camping opportunities to girls throughout Rhode Island. Since then they have expanded to include girls from parts of Connecticut and Southeastern Massachusetts.
At the 2019 Annual Meeting GSSNE plans to recognize this very special year by celebrating their accomplishments throughout the years. Staff and volunteers will be wearing uniforms to reflect each decade that the council has been in existence. Uniformed participants will also share highlights from the era they represent. To conclude the event, GSSNE will be burying a time capsule for future Girl Scouts to uncover.
GSSNE will be hosting several opportunities throughout the year for their members to celebrate this incredible centennial year. Visit gssne.org for upcoming details on future events!
