    Women in Tech Program

    The Program
    • Competitive 9 month credit bearing, online training program (NEW Start Date: December 28, 2020)
      • Candidates are nominated by their employer, complete an interview, and must pass academic assessments before admittance to the program
    • Two program tracks available: Software Development and Data Analytics
      • Participants who complete the program will be eligible for a credit-bearing certificate in Data Analytics or Software Development
    Candidate Profile:
    • Rhode Islanders ages 18+
    • HS Diploma or GED 
    • Ability to pass academic assessment
    Employer Ask
    • Nominate female employees in entry-level positions who show aptitude for software development or data analytics roles (Nomination forms due by 12/11/20)
    • Provide in-house work based learning opportunity related to program track during program (satisfies internship/Capstone requirement for credit-bearing certificate program)
    • Commit to career advancement/promotion upon program completion
    Program Tracks
    Data Analytics Certificate
    The Certificate in Data Analytics introduces the concepts, techniques, ideas, skills, theories, methods and practice necessary for entry in the fields of Data Analytics or Data Science. Students will learn the foundational skills necessary to work in a data driven world. Statistical, data, and visualization tools will provide students with the background necessary to thrive in the field of Data Analytics. Learning outcomes include:
    • Perform statistical analysis of data to provide the basis for decision making
    • Utilize data analysis tools for the analysis of data sets
    • Construct computer programs to access and manipulate data files and databases
    • Develop visualizations of data to communicate the results of statistical analysis
    • Analyze real-world problems based on data analysis techniques
    • Demonstrate the ability to manage a project from the design stage to the final report
    Software Developer Certificate
    The Certificate in Software Development provides required skills and training for an entry-level career in software development. Through this certificate, students acquire knowledge in computer programming language (introductory and advanced level), foundational mathematics for computer science, and software development. Students will use an appropriate software development methodology in the completion of a group project. Learning outcomes include:
    • Utilize data analysis tools for the analysis of data sets
    • Construct computer programs to access and manipulate data files and databases
    • Develop visualizations of data to communicate the results of statistical analysis
    • Analyze real-world problems based on data analysis techniques
    • Demonstrate the ability to manage a project from the design stage to the final report
