  • External Relations Coordinator

    • Status: Full-time, Non-exempt
      Reports to: Director of Development and External Relations

      Summary of Responsibilities:
      PCM is seeking a talented, motivated External Relations Coordinator to maintain and grow the
      Museum’s public relations and marketing efforts including those in print, digital, email, and social
      media campaigns, and supporting communication, public relations, and outreach efforts to
      increase awareness and support of the Museum. The successful candidate will be an exceptional
      writer and communicator with the capacity to harness oral, written and visual communication
      to bring the Museum brand to life.

    Functions:
    • Press: Work with PCM staff to maintain list of contacts and develop and implement strategy for managing PCM’s presence in local, regional, and relevant press;
    • Social media: Develop and implement strategy for advancing PCM’s strategic goals through social media; Lead organizational presence on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to market events, create awareness, generate interest in attendance, membership, volunteering, donations, and provide information for our members and broader community.
    • Digital: Maintain PCM's digital presence including website, relevant association organizations (ACM, NEMA); Update and maintain website resource pages and related web content for all relevant projects. Assure that websites are accessible, relevant, and current.
    • Newsletters and email Blasts: Coordinate mailing list data, monthly newsletters, and e-mail blasts, funding announcements, and other material.
    • Events management: Coordinates outreach, member and community events to promote awareness and visitor/member cultivation. Document events and programs, organize photos and stories, and develop content across Museum communications and social media platforms.
    • Advertising and Marketing: Manages ad buys; works closely with Director of Development and External Relations and Graphics Designer to ensure accurate and timely ad generation.
    • Data Tracking: Ensures accurate and timely entry and management of data; generates reports and provides information for Museum communications, including member, media and email contacts. Tracks and reports on marketing and communication activities, including brochure distribution, coupon redemption, effectiveness of promotions, email/social media/website analytics, and visitor demographics and trends.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree required; professional experience in writing, marketing, communications or graphics preferred.
    • An ideal candidate is detail-oriented, flexible, and a capable problem-solver.
    • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal/written communication skills.
    • Proficiency with Macintosh platform, Microsoft Excel and Word, social media platforms, and Constant Contact or other email marketing platforms.
    • Experience with HTML and Photoshop, InDesign or other design software preferred.
