  • Tax Manager/Tax Supervisor

    Responsibilities and Duties: Piccerelli, Gilstein & Company, LLP, a Providence, RI based auditing, accounting, tax and advisory firm is seeking a motivated individual interested in leadership opportunity to fill an open tax manager/tax supervisor position.  Functions include, but are not limited to

    • Serve as liaison between partner, client, staff and special service departments; communicating all important developments of the work including conclusions and recommendations
    • Maintain steady contact with clients throughout the business year, answering questions and advising, as needed; develop and cultivate partnerships with clients
    • Embrace client service philosophy of providing timely and reliable information
    • Serve as project manager, following progress of an engagement in relation to budgeted time and scheduled dates of completion
    • Perform tax work, which may include tax research, resolving any issue(s) as they arise
    • Review and/or analyze IRS notices and drafts responses
    • Collaborate with other departments and participates in client meetings
    • Work with the client's attorneys or brokers, taxing authority agents, and other third parties
    • Supervise the preparation of tax returns prepared by senior accountants and tax staff
    • Train and assist senior tax accountant and tax staff
    • Stay current on tax issues and pronouncements; proactively participate in professional development                                                                                                                                
    • Prepare current billings for partner review 
    • Prepare and discuss staff performance evaluations for the in-charge personnel
    • Serve as a positive role model to staff and professional representative of the firm. 

    Job Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Science degree in accounting (required)
    • Master’s degree in Taxation or related degree (a plus)
    • 3+ years of tax experience in public accounting
    • CPA certification, or someone who is in the process of qualifying for such certification (required)
    • Strong communication skills: written and verbal
    • Software proficiency: Microsoft Suite, ProSystem fx Tax and Engagement (a plus)
    • Knowledge of accounting principles and auditing/tax standards
    • Research and analytical skills (a plus)
    • Estate, trusts & gift experience (a plus)
    • Proven project management and multi-taking ability.
